On behalf of the Bloomfield Basketball League, we wish you and your family a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

The Bloomfield Basketball League welcomed over 600 participants in our inaugural year, and this year is only going to get better and stronger!

We now play our games on Saturdays at Lahser High School with one-hour practices on Mondays or Tuesdays to fit your schedule. Our sessions are now also scheduled around local schools’ basketball seasons so your child can take advantage of valuable additional practice and game time to further hone their skills before their school seasons begin.

The Winter Session starts on  January 2010 and runs through March 2010. Bring your own team or be placed on a team. The $129 registration fee includes:

• 8-10 games including playoffs (Saturday games at Lahser HS between 12PM-4PM
• Weekly practices (Monday  or Tuesday nights). Other nights are available and will accommodate per team request.
• MHSAA registered referees
• League awards
• Individual player uniform (team jersey and shorts) to use for the current season
• Deadline for Bantam division 5th-6th grades is on Saturday, January 16th. Walk-in Registration at Lahser HS, 3456 Lahser Rd. Bloomfield Hills from 12PM-1:30PM
• Deadline for Junior Division 7th-8th grades,  JV and Varsity is on Saturday, January 23rd. Walk-in Registration at Lahser HS, 3456 Lahser Rd. Bloomfield Hills from 2PM-3PM

• Varsity Division: 11th grade and up (draft day for this division will be on 1/23/2010 at Lahser HS from 2PM-3PM)

The Bloomfield Basketball League is directed towars players between 5th and 12th grades.  Our goal is to provide all children with a solid foundation of skills, confidence, love for the game of basketball, and the joy of being part of a TEAM.

Deadline is near…

Teams are forming, inquiries from Waterford HS,  West Bloomfield HS, Shrine HS, and a few teams from Lahser HS.  More teams = more games.  You can bring your own team only in the Open Division (High School).  An individual player can still sign up and will be placed on a house team.

7th and 8th grade Division registration is filling up.  Players draft will be held on the March 13, 2009 – at East Hills Middle School, starts promptly at 6:00PM.

Session I recap…

Bloomfield Basketball All Star team prevailed despite an 18 point deficit at half time against a local Middle school team. This was a game to remember as both teams battled at the second half and ended with nail-biting finish. Nathan G. led the team with 24 points and Jordan Ricarte with 12 points. Charlie M., Alec L., Julian A. and Mitch D. scored a combined total of 20 points. Team was coached by Mike D. of Seaholm HS varsity.

All games were played similar to High school game clock rules. 8 minute stop clock and 2 adult MHSAA registered referees. All teams were provided team jersey and shorts for the season. Weekly practices provided by the league helped the teams and players excel with the majority of the players making their respective school teams.

Thank you to all coaches, staff, players, parents and fans for making our Inaugural season a success. I hope you and your children will join us again and together build a great neighborhood basketball league!

Invitation to Join Bloomfield Basketball League

 

 

Dear Bloomfield Parent:

I am proud to announce the formation of an exciting new youth basketball league for families in the Bloomfield Hills area.  

As the father of three sons who love sports, my wife and I have spent countless hours driving and traveling to youth sports leagues located as far as 25 miles from home so that our boys could play basketball year-round.  As long-time residents of Bloomfield Hills, we wished that our city and township had its very own youth basketball league so our kids could play closer to home, spend less time traveling, and hang out with their neighborhood friends.  Being working parents, our commuting schedules often resulted in one of us missing some of their games.

Located in Bloomfield Hills, the new Bloomfield Basketball League  (www.bloomfieldbasketball.com) will accommodate players from grades 3 to 12. Our goal is to provide all children with a solid foundation of skills, confidence, love for the game of basketball, and the joy of being part of a TEAM.  

This fall we are launching our inaugural season with two sessions — September 29 to November 15 and December 1 to January 31. The league consists of separate teams for girls and boys.  The first session begins with player evaluation on September 17 and 19 and runs until November 15. The second session begins with player evaluation on November 19 and runs until January 31. 

Registration deadline is September 19 for the first session and November 21 for the second session.

Player evaluation will be held at East Hills Middle School, 6:30-8:00PM, on the above scheduled dates. The typical weekly schedule will include one practice and one game. There will be a minimum of 6 games and practices plus playoffs. Some games may be scheduled on Saturdays depending on how many teams are formed.

Participation includes:

                       ·     Individual player uniform (team jersey                                and shorts) to use for the current season

·      Player evaluation to determine team assignments (you need to register before attending evaluation)

·      Everybody plays and makes the team

·      Weekly practices (minimum 6 practices)

·      Minimum 6 games plus playoffs officiated by registered referees

·      League awards
